How Holly came to be in our lives

Having sadly lost our faithful companion of almost 14 years recently I decided the only thing to do was to blog, post tributes and pictures and to get another dog. The decision was difficult but made quickly, as Tippy was a rescue dog and I think would have wanted me to give another unwanted pet the chance of a loving home.

By chance I would be in Sussex last weekend and so took a quick glance at the local Blue Cross website. There was an adorable border collie called Holly who needed a home. I couldn't believe my luck when they said Holly was still available and we were welcome to come and meet her anytime.

Holly had been at the shelter for almost 4 months but far from showing signs of depression was full of beans, madly chasing balls and playing in the paddling pool and had the most glossy, shiny fur coat. She had obviously been loved and well cared for, but had proven too much for her previous family who said they did not have time for her. She had also been overweight when she was given up for adoption.

It's all credit to the Blue Cross in Northiam that she had lost a lot of the excess weight and be given lots of love and exercise while in their care.

We rescued Holly yesterday and are starting the getting to know you process. We'll be blogging updates and pictures here as we start our new life together.
